Wk 9 - Cougars On Top Again; Golden Skins Crush Hitmen (11/11)

In a game that matched the last two 3rd & Long Champions the North Miami Cougars, with another big game from team MVP Peyton Manning, embarrased the Hollywood Showmen 119 - 44. With the win the Cougars have improved to a league best 8 - 1 and after trailing the Texas Hitmen for the entire season they now find themselves on top of the WFC. In the most anticipated game of the week the Norfolk Golden Skins crushed the Hitmen 123 - 69. Both teams hold the exact same 7 - 2 record, but the Golden Skins now have the all important tiebreaker. Fresh off their record performance in Week 8 the Kalamazoo Fire Balls were shocked by the Key Biscayne Dolphins 106 - 69. The Fire Balls were hoping to move into a three-way tie for the division lead but the loss drops them one game behind the sixth and final playoff spot. The surprising Minneapolis Mets hold that final spot and they continued their impressive play by smacking the Bay Area Burnouts 107 - 70. The 107 points scored by the Mets is the most in franchise history. The Perine Silverbacks also had a big game scoring 101 points in a 101 - 62 win over the West Kendale and finally the Tennessee Bulldogs only managed to score 62 points but it was enough to beat the comatose Miami Rebels 62 - 58. The Rebels now hold the worst record in the league at 1 - 8.

Wk 8 - Fire Balls Outscore Hitmen In Record Game (11/10)

The Kalamazoo Fire Balls needed a record performance to beat the Texas Hitmen but somehow they pulled it off in a mind-boggling 146 - 135 win. Several records were broken including the most points scored by one team in a single game (previously 144 by Showmen set this year) and the most total points scored by both teams in a single game (281, previously 258 set last year). The Hitmen were looking to remain unbeaten but general manager Dave Calhoun was stunned when he found out that 135 wasn't good enough to win. "I thought I had a real shot at going 14 - 0 this year so I can't believe I lost." The North Miami Cougars benefited the most from the Fire Balls amazing performance as they were able to move into a tie with the Hitmen for the top record in the league at 7 - 1 with a big 117 - 63 win over the Perine Silverbacks. The Cougars have suffered through a number of injuries this year but they have quietly scored 100 points in 6 games this year. With the Silverbacks going down the Norfolk Golden skins seized control of the division by beating the Bay Area Burnouts 87 - 50 and the Hollywood Showmen maintained their lead in the CFC by spanking the Tennessee Bulldogs 83 - 41. The Minneapolis Mets continued their suprising season by beating the Key Biscayne Dolphins 83 - 73. The Mets have now pulled themselves back to .500 and look ready to make a run at the post-season. And finally in complete contrast to the Fire Balls/Hitmen matchup, the West Kendale Wildcats clipped the Miami Rebels 48 - 43 in one of the lowest scoring games in 3rd and Long history.

Wk 6 - Hitmen Beat Dolphins In High Scoring Affair (10/20)

The Key Biscayne Dolphins finally had a big week, but unfortunately it came against the best team in the league during another one of their high-scoring performances. The Texas Hitmen scored 128 points in a 128 - 107 victory over the Dolphins and have now improved their record to a perfect 6 - 0. Hot on their heels is the North Miami Cougars who continued their dominance with a 111 - 80 win over the Miami Rebels. The Cougars have now won 28 of their last 30 games going back to the 2002 season (includes playoffs). Despite not starting Corey Dillon the Bay Area Burnouts still had a big game beating the Kalamazoo Fireballs 102 - 85. With the win the Burnouts now hold the all important playoff tie-breaker over the Fireballs and are currently the 6th seed which would be good enough to get them into post-season play should the regular season end today.

In other action the West Kendale Wildcats finally go their first win of the season by beating the Tennessee Bulldogs 62 - 48, the Minneapolis Mets got back to .500 with a 64 - 45 beating of the Norfolk Golden Skins and in the second lowest scoring game in 3rd And Long history the Hollywood Showmen sleepwalked by the Perine Silverbacks 48 - 42.

Wk 5 - Decisive Wins Rule Week 5 Action (10/13)

The average margin of victory from all the Week 5 matches was 45 points. It doesn't get more decisive than that. The North Miami cougars lead the way with a 122 - 55 shallacking of the Key Biscayne Dolphins. Even without Priest Holmes the Texas Hitmen continued their impressive scoring run beating the Miami Rebels 110 - 65. With the win the Hitmen improve to a league best 5 - 0. The Perine Silverbacks improved their record to 4 - 1 with a 103 - 47 smack down of the Kalamazoo Fire Balls. The Norfolk Golden Skins responded and retained the top spot in the EFC with a big 88 - 62 win over the winless West Kendale Wildcats. The Hollywood Showmen have moved to the top of the CFC with their 90 - 76 victory over the Bay Area Burnouts and the Minneapolis Mets crushed the Tennessee Bulldogs by 44 in a 77 - 33 win.

Wk 4 - Hitmen Win Battle Of The Unbeaten (10/05)

The battle of the unbeaten wasn't much of a battle at all as the Texas Hitmen defeated the Perine Silverbacks 83 - 67. With the win, the Hitmen improve their record to 4 - 0 and are the only team left without a loss. The North Miami Cougars won their third game in a row scoring one of the highest point totals of the week in an 88 - 69 win over the Minneapolis Mets. The Norfolk Golden Skins dropped the Miami Rebels 68 - 52 and have moved into a tie with the Silverbacks for first place in the EFC

In other action around the league, the Kalamazoo Fire Balls squeaked by the still winless West Kendale Wildcats 81 - 67, the Key Biscayne Dolphins got their first win of the year drubbing the Hollywood Showmen 77 - 55 and the Bay Area Burnouts clipped the injury-plagued Tennessee Bulldogs 91 - 82. This game is still not official and could be changed once several scoring re-checks have been made.

Wk 3 - Showmen Score A Record 144 Pts In Win (9/28)

The Hollywood Showmen broke the single-game scoring record previously held by the Texas Hitmen (140) by scoring 144 pts in a 144 - 64 beatdown of the Miami Rebels. The Showmen, who are now 2 - 1, got unbelievable performances from 4 players: 40 from Javon Walker, 31 from Jamal Lewis, 28 from Donovan McNabb and 24 from Rod Gardner. The Showmen would have scored more if they went with Brett Favre, who had 38 pts, instead of McNabb.

In other action, the Texas Hitmen kept on winning scoring 100 pts for the 3rd straight week in an embarrassing 118 - 41 win over the Bay Area Burnouts. The Perine Silverbacks joined the Hitmen as the only 2 unbeaten teams with their 76 - 53 win over the injury-plagued Tennessee Bulldogs. The North Miami Cougars look like they are back in mid-season form scoring 100 pts for the second time in a row in a 123 - 73 shallacking of the West Kendale Wildcats. The Kalamazoo Fireballs fell from the ranks of the unbeaten by losing to the previously winless Minneapolis Mets 90 - 69 and finally the Norfolk Golden Skins knocked off the Key Biscayne Dolphins 83 - 64 to raise their record to 2 - 1 keeping them firmly in the race for a division title.
